This is the mess left behind after a rave at the site of a wildlife project. Hundreds of people were spotted drinking alcohol and listening to music near Fir Tree Flash, in Leigh, on Saturday evening.

People living close to the woodland site reported hearing ravers fighting and arguing in the early hours of the morning, while others awoke to find their cars had been damaged.

Pictures shared on social media on Sunday morning also show a sea of litter left strewn across the ground, including laughing gas canisters and empty bottles.

One woman, who lives close to the the site, said: "It looks horrendous. There is rubbish everywhere. "We went for a walk last night at about 8.30 and heard the music booming then.
