Queues, masks and McNuggets - this is what McDonald's drive-thrus are like in lockdown

You might have noticed by now that McDonald's is once again welcoming customers back to its drive-thrus. If you live in the vicinity of one, you'll have seen the queues, smelled the unmistakable smell of the fast food chain, an aroma that ticks off meaty and sweet and deep-fried all in one inhale.

The American burger giant, which has around 1,300 restaurants in the UK alone, has introduced new safety measures as it reopens in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Customers can only get food through the drive-thrus, or by delivery - there are to be absolutely no customers in the restaurants themselves for the time being.
