Manchester Airport will not be able to bounce back from a second national lockdown without urgent help from the government. Almost all international travel has been banned until December, as the country once again attempts to tackle another wave of coronavirus.It comes at a time when thousands of people who rely on the viability of the airport, and associated industries, are still reeling from the economic impact of the first lockdown.A total of 1,543 roles have been put at risk by external contractors since March, with Manchester Airports Group (MAG) planning to axe a further 456 jobs by Christmas.

Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, has warned that up to 70,000 jobs linked to the airport's £1bn new super terminal are also under.
