Thug hit dog then beat girlfriend with golf club after she tried to save pooch

A thug has been jailed after he attacked his girlfriend with a golf club when she tried to stop him hitting her dog. Mark Slonecki, 35, from Derbyshire, picked up the weapon and repeatedly hit his girlfriend with it during an argument at his home in Ilkeston.

Slonecki took the case to trial where he was found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Derbyshire Live reported how due to social isolation guidelines ordered by the Government amid the coronavirus pandemic, Solnecki appeared over a video link from prison for his sentencing hearing at Derby Crown Court.

Judge Robert Egbuna has sentenced the thug to prison for two years after his 35-year-old partner told the court how he "whacked" her with the golf club.
