Bobby Andrew Johnson, 25, was sentenced to six to 15 years in state prison for selling five handguns he stole from unlocked cars in Bucks County.  (Bucks County District Attorney's Office)BUCKS COUNTY, Pa - A 25-year-old man was sentenced to six to 15 years in state prison on Monday for stealing five handguns and selling them, authorities said. According to the Bucks County District Attorney's Office, Bobby Andrew Johnson, formerly of Richlandtown, stole handguns and other objects from unlocked cars in Upper Bucks County from April 2018 to September 2018.Johnson is accused of selling five stolen handguns, including one which was found at the home of a minor, according to the DA. During an investigation into stolen guns in multiple counties, police were led to Johnson, who admitted he took items from cars and made about $30,000 in profits. A previous 2015 felony burglary conviction also prevented Johnson from being able to possess a firearm. He pleaded guilty to multiple charges including five counts each of not to possess a firearm, illegal sale or transfer of firearms, theft by unlawful taking, theft from a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property. In addition to his sentence, Commons Pleas Judge Theodore C. Fritsch ordered Johnson to pay $1,785 in restitution.

PHILADELPHIA - A street in Mount Airy was rededicated Monday to honor Richard Allen, one of America’s most influential Black leaders. Allens Lane was originally named after former Philadelphia mayor William Allen. He was one of the wealthiest in Philadelphia during his time, using his money to support public interests including the building of Independence Hall and the establishment of the University of Pennsylvania. William Allen also opposed the Declaration of Independence and was a known slave owner. The street has now been rededicated to honor Richard Allen, a former slave who started the African Methodist Episcopal Church, which became the first national Black church denomination in the United States. Richard Allen fought endlessly for racial justice and equality.

HARRISBURG, Pa. - A Philadelphia ordinance that requires gun owners to tell police when a firearm has been lost or stolen was ruled illegal Monday by a state court, with one of the judges who voted to throw out the law lamenting that their ruling would put people’s lives at risk.A three-judge Commonwealth Court panel ruled unanimously against the city law and issued a permanent injunction, saying the state Uniform Firearms Act preempts it. Philadelphia Police had sought a $2,000 fine against a man charged with violating the lost-and-stolen reporting mandate.The defendant had pleaded guilty in January 2019 to other firearms offenses, telling a city judge he had been the straw purchaser of six guns.

JIM THORPE, Pa. - A woman has died after she fell while hiking with a group on a scenic trail that was closed by the state three years ago due to safety concerns.State police were called to a site near the Glen Onoko Falls in Carbon County around 10:30 a.m. Sunday. They were met there by several emergency responders who had carried the 72-year-old woman down the mountain from near the first of three waterfalls at the site, a trip officials said was made over "treacherous, steep, ice-covered terrain."The woman, whose name has not been released, suffered a head injury and was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead there a short time later.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities in Philadelphia have identified and charged a suspect accused of shooting a SWAT officer who was serving a warrant late last week, striking him in his bulletproof vest. The incident occurred around 12:37 p.m. Friday, when members of the Philadelphia Police Department SWAT unit were serving a search warrant on the 100 block of West Lehigh Avenue. Authorities say the warrant was to search for Kristian Reyes, 35, who was wanted for parole violations. Members of the SWAT team had entered a three-story building on the block after announcing their presence, and approached the door to the third-floor apartment. Police say SWAT officers attempted to breach the door, firing three rounds from a breaching shotgun on the door lock and deadbolt, but were unsuccessful. As the officers prepared to ram the door, authorities say Reyes fired multiple gunshots through the wall, striking one of the officers once in the chest.

Justin Trudeau is expected to announce Monday he will invoke emergency powers to support provinces in ending the blockades and public disorder that have gripped Ottawa for 18 days, Global News has confirmed.One national security source and one source that participated in a Monday morning Liberal national caucus meeting said the government is poised to invoke the act and that senior officials are preparing for an imminent announcement.Multiple sources have also told Global News federal officials are weighing options for the military to help law enforcement with logistics. But there is no plan at this time, according to the sources, to have the military help police in dealing with civilians or deploying into the streets.What exactly are the powers coming into play? Let’s take a look.First, a quick history recap: the Emergencies Act is not the War Measures Act.The War Measures Act was the controversial piece of legislation that Trudeau’s father, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, used back in 1970 during the October Crisis, which saw a series of terrorist attacks by a Quebec separatist group.The law allowed the federal government to suspend civil liberties, and it was in response to questions over how far Trudeau senior would go in suspending these liberties that he offered the infamous phrase: “Just watch me.”That law, however, was repealed and replaced in 1988.
