UK coronavirus daily deaths rise by 258 as Britain hits its 15m vaccination target

The number of coronavirus deaths in the UK has increased by 258 and the number of cases has risen by 10,972. Today's figures show a decrease in the death toll and infections compared to last Sunday, February 7, when the UK's official coronavirus death toll rose by 373 with a total of 15,845 new infections.

This figure is the number of deaths of people who had had a positive test result for Covid-19 and died within 28 days of the first positive test.

On Sunday the number of lives lost to Covid-19 in UK hospitals has risen by 331. This tragic figure includes 301 deaths in England, four in Scotland, 15 in Wales and 11 in Northern Ireland.
