A further 424 people have died of Covid-19 in the UK. A total of 63,082 people have lost their lives to the disease within 28 days of testing positive.
The number of positive tests recorded increased by 21,672 today, to bring the weekly total to 119,025 - an increase of 17.7% compared to the week before.
Today's death toll is down from the 504 people that died last Friday, and the 521 who died the Friday before that. Yesterday the Covid-19 death toll rose by 516, the second day running the number has been below 600.
