The number of people who have died after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK has risen to 35,704. The death toll is up by 363 from 35,341 at the same point yesterday.
In the 24-hour period up to 9am on Wednesday, 177,216 tests were carried out or dispatched, with 2,472 positive results. Overall a total of 2,962,227 tests have been carried out, and 248,293 cases have been confirmed positive.
NHS England has announced 166 new deaths of people who tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 25,080.
