Chancellor Rishi Sunak has promised UK workers and employers there will be no "cliff-edge" cut-off to the Government's furlough scheme.
Some 6.3million workers have been placed on the Government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme since it launched in April, costing the taxpayer £8billion.
Under the scheme, employers can claim a grant covering 80 per cent of the wages for a furloughed employee, up to £2,500 a month.
Any UK organisation with employees affected by the Covid-19 crisis can apply for the Government help as long as they had set up a payroll scheme before March 19.
