A further 225 lives have been lost to Covid-19 in UK hospitals, health authorities have confirmed. The figure includes 195 deaths in England, five in Scotland, 14 in Wales and 11 in Northern Ireland.
Figures released by the Department of Health yesterday revealed there were 14,556 patients in hospital with the virus. A week ago there were 229 confirmed hospital fatalities.
Those who died in England were aged between 27 and 100, with all but two having underlying health conditions. The Midlands had the highest number of fatalities, with 62.
