The heatwave is expected to continue for much of this week, forecasters have said, after the sunniest spring on record. This weekend saw highs of 28C as crowds flocked to the beach and parks following the easing of some of the coronavirus lockdown measures.
Met Office forecaster Marco Petagna said the mercury could reach 27C in the west of England today. Tuesday could see the hottest temperatures of the year so far in the south with 29C highs in places.
But the forecaster said the weather could change from the middle of the week. He said: "The sunny weather will certainly continue for a couple more days but from Tuesday we are starting to see some more unsettled weather across Scotland and the gradual trend will be turning cooler across the
