Unemployment in Odisha greater than than national unemployment rate of 23.5% Odisha's unemployment rate increased 10.7 percentage points, rising to 23.8% in Apr 2020, according to a survey conducted by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE).
Over a longer time period, unemployment has moved from 1.6% in Mar 2017 to its current rate. Unemployment in Odisha was greater than than the national rate of 23.5%.
Nationwide, unemployment was highest in Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, and Bihar at 49.8%, 47.1%, and 46.6% respectively. It was lowest in Punjab, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana at 2.9%, 3.4%, and 6.2% respectively.
