Vigil set to honor 7 victims killed in West Reading chocholate factory explosion

WEST READING, Pa. - The Reading community is preparing to honor the seven people who died in the R.M. Chocolate Factory explosion one week ago.

Officials with the Berks County Coroner's Office have only identified 49-year-old Amy Sandoe and 60-year-old Domingo Cruz, with five victims pending identification.

Related Days after the deadly explosion at the R.M. Palmer Company in West Reading, the county coroner has begun identifying victims of the tragedy that has rocked the town and state.At a West Reading Borough council meeting, a moment of silence was held for the victims and members of the community attended the meeting to express their sympathies. "We are in this together," one resident said. "This is a community." Officials also provided community members with mental health resources, business relocation assistance and help with employment compensation as a result of the deadly explosion. "It was heartbreaking to know what everyone was going through here.

But the way you have all stepped up to the plate makes me proud to be a public servant," said Reading City Council President Donna Reed.As the scene remains closed off to traffic on 2nd Street, a memorial continues to take shape.RELATED COVERAGEBorough officials are preparing a vigil to be held on Friday to honor the explosion victims. "We also encourage families, the employees, the loved ones and any affected to come and bring pictures bring mementos and stories.

's Nick Thompson announced he started a nonprofit to help reality TV stars in the wake of allegations of mistreatment on the hit Netflix show.Thompson, who appeared on season 2 of and married before divorcing co-star Danielle Ruhl, took to Instagram on Thursday and announced he's a founding board member and executive director of outreach for the UCAN Foundation, which aims to «provide mental health and legal support to past, current, and future reality TV contestants.»Thompson explained in a lengthy caption that, no, he and fellow reality TV stars didn't sign up to be food and water-deprived, allegations made by several of his co-stars, including his ex.  «I signed up for a 'psychologically-based' love experiment sold as 'different from other reality shows,'» he wrote in his caption. «Love is Blind S1 made a believer out of me, and I thought the experience could work for me if I went with good intentions and stayed true to myself.»Thompson went on to say that the «vetting» process «included psych tests and evaluations, background checks, and assurances the cast members selected is 'ready for marriage.'» He also claimed being told that the psychologist that conducted his evaluation spoke to his therapist to verity the ethics and conditions of the show out of concern it would diminish his progress.

Man, 81, accused of killing wife, daughter with ax
Reginald Maclaren (Photo courtesy of Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office) An 81-year-old man is accused of killing his wife and daughter with an ax after police say he confessed to the murders, The Denver Post reported. Reginald Maclaren was arrested and is facing a first-degree murder charge. He contacted the Englewood Police Department in Colorado to inform the agency that his wife and adult daughter were murdered. Maclaren told authorities he believed he knew the suspect and a hammer was used in the attack, according to a release from Englewood police. Officers arrived at the scene and found Maclaren inside the apartment.  While in the home, police found two people in large trash cans on the floor of the living room/kitchen area.Police said both women had substantial injuries and had died. Englewood police noted during their investigation they determined Maclaren’s wife and daughter were murdered with the ax, and one victim was dismembered with a saw. The victims were identified in an arrest affidavit as 70-year-old Bethany Maclaren and 35-year-old Ruth Jennifer Maclaren, The Denver Post noted. Citing the arrest affidavit, The Denver Post reported Maclaren told investigators that he recently lost his job at which he worked with people who are homeless.
