Former Preston and Exeter striker Graham Cummins has recalled the time Virgil van Dijk told him not to “bother” as the Dutchman is “too good”.

Cummins came up against Van Dijk while at Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone with the defender having been with Celtic. Van Dijk was soon to move to the Premier League, heading to Southampton just 24 hours after coming up against Cummins.
