European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will be questioned by MEPs on her handling of the roll-out of Covid-19 vaccines and the controversy over the Commission's attempt to trigger Article 16 of the Northern Ireland Protocol.
Ms von der Leyen has faced growing criticism for the manner in which the European Commission negotiated vaccine contracts with pharmaceutical companies and the comparatively slow roll-out of the vaccine programme.
There have been allegations, fiercely denied by the Commission, that once member states agreed to Brussels negotiating for as many as 2.3 billion doses on their behalf, that not enough were ordered in the autumn.
