Manchester restaurant and bar owners are calling for clarity after the government published its road map for relaxing the lockdown today.

Hospitality businesses will not be permitted to reopen to the public - beyond offering takeaway and collection services - until July 4 at the earliest.

In its three-step strategy for reopening and rebuilding the UK economy, the government said it hoped 'at least some' parts of the sector would be able to open at that stage.

But the document stresses any reopening is subject to the pandemic remaining under control 'and further detailed scientific advice, provided closer to the time, on how far we can go'. 'Food service providers, pubs and accommodation' are mentioned as businesses that may be able to open
