The vaulted arches and station clock of Manchester Central have made it an iconic city feature for more than 130 years. The complex opened in July 1880 as a railway station before being transformed into a concert venue in 1986, commonly known as the G-MEX.
Acting as the city's main gig venue for almost a decade, some of Manchester's most loved bands played there including the likes of The Smiths, Oasis and New Order.
Then, when Manchester Arena opened in 1995, the venue gradually hosted less concerts and transformed into a conference centre.
The facility was renamed Manchester Central in 2007, evoking the memory of the former station and now, the convention centre is the city's leading conference, exhibition and events venue.
