A coronavirus outbreak has been confirmed at a branch of Wetherspoons as 12 staff test positive and at least 30 are forced to self isolate.
The firm has contacted Public Health England to make the organisation aware of the outbreak among staff at the Lime Kiln in Liverpool.
Pub bosses said they had received no reports of transmission between staff and customers and insisted a "rigorous implementation of hygiene standards".
The venue remains open, the Liverpool Echo reports. A Wetherspoons spokesman said they believe a "private event" attended by some members of staff outside work may be linked to the cases.
