The UK government has published its roadmap to ending the coronavirus lockdown. Over the next few months people will begin to return to work, some children will go back to school, and certain non-essential shops and businesses will be allowed to open.
A new five tier 'Covid Alert System' will be used to determine when it is safe for measures to be relaxed, and for life to gradually get back to normal.
The priority will be ensuring that the NHS can cope, that PPE meets demand, that cases and death rates fall, and transmission remains low.
