Nicola Sturgeon will update the nation on Scotland’s five-tier coronavirus alert system later today. Tougher restrictions could be imposed in the north east of the country as public health officials grow concerned over case numbers in recent day.
Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire are both in level two but could go up to level three, which would force pubs and restaurants to stop serving alcohol.
Concerns have also been raised about the number of cases reported in Perthshire and Clackmannanshire. Both areas are currently in level three.
