Dental practises in England are preparing to reopen later this month. Dentists have been closed for non-urgent appointments since the March 25, but will be allowed to reopen from June 8.

Patients who are due a check up may have to wait longer before getting an appointment however. Initially, any urgent patients will be prioritised as surgeries reopen from next week, which means routine care appointments are unlikely to be available until later.

Dentists have said it will take at least several months for routine check-ups and cleanings to resume, depending on a number of factors.

Meanwhile, social distancing rules will mean that a trip to the dentist will look very different to how it would have done before the lockdown.
