Almost every area in England currently in Tier 3 has seen Covid-19 infection rates surge in the last two weeks. That's sparked fears the Tier 2 and 3 restrictions are failing to contain the deadly virus and more areas will plunge into Tier 4.
Analysis by the Mirror of the latest Department of Health figures shows 44 areas currently in Tier 2 or Tier 3 have higher rates than North Hertfordshire, the region with the lowest figure in Tier 4 (232.1).
