KENSINGTON - A 19-year-old man was shot in the chest and killed in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood Saturday.According to officials, 24th District officers were called to the 1800 block of East Orleans Street Saturday afternoon, a little after 2:15, on the report of gunshots.Responding officers found the victim, a 19-year-old man, inside a building suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.Medics rushed the man to Temple University Hospital, where he died a short time later.Police are actively investigating the scene.

OCEAN COUNTY, N.J. - A triple shooting that left one man dead and two others injured is under investigation in Ocean County.Police reportedly found three victims when they responded to reports of gunfire near a shopping center on the 1700 block of Hooper Avenue in Toms River around 1:20 a.m.

AUSTIN, Texas - March for Our Lives is again gathering at the steps of the Texas State Capitol demanding action on gun safety in the wake of the Uvalde, Texas mass shooting.The organization is rallying with the parents whose children were killed in the May 24 shooting at Robb Elementary School, as well as survivors from the 2018 mass shooting at Santa Fe High School and youth activists from across Texas.The rally is to urge Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to call a special session immediately and to raise the minimum age to purchase an AR-15 to 21. "Three months since the horrifying and preventable tragedy at Robb Elementary School, Governor Abbott still hasn’t taken action to keep kids safe and prevent gun violence," said the organization in a release.

PHILADELPHIA - At least six shootings rang out Friday night into Saturday morning as another summer weekend in Philadelphia became a violent one.The violence began with a fatal shooting in the city's Kingsessing neighborhood when police say a 31-year-old man was killed. He was shot at least four times on the 5400 block of Chester Avenue around 10 p.m. With the next 30 minutes, police say two more people became the victims of two separate shootings.

TRENTON, N.J. - Gas prices have dropped below $4 for the first time since March amid stable crude oil prices near the end of the summer driving season. AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in New Jersey on Friday was $3.99, down 11 cents from last week. The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was $3.86, down five cents from last week. Analysts say easing oil prices have offset rising demand and tightened supplies. But they warn that hurricane season may bring storms that could disrupt oil production in the Gulf of Mexico and impact large coastal refineries.

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. - Riley Gracely and his family were looking around the piles of dirt and gravel at Palmetto Fossil Excursions in Summerville when he saw something that looked like a tooth.The 8-year-old Lebanon, Pennsylvania, boy started digging in the soil, clay and gravel and pulled out a huge fossilized tooth from the long-extinct angustiden shark species, that was 22 million to 28 million years old."He got lucky," Riley’s dad Justin Gracely said in a phone call Monday.Sky Basak, who owns Palmetto Fossil with her husband Josh, called it a "once in a lifetime find."The tooth measured 4.75 inches — about the size of Riley’s hand.The Gracely family was on their annual vacation to Myrtle Beach and made the 2.5-hour trip south to Summerville to go to Palmetto Fossil, a 100-acre pit rich with prehistoric material including all manner — and parts — of sea creatures.South Carolina has many such locations, buried deep in the earth along the coastal plain, where ocean and rivers ebbed and flowed for millions of years.Gracely, 40, said he has been visiting Myrtle Beach since he was 5 and he and his mother, a microbiologist, scoured the sand for shark’s teeth.Two years ago, when Palmetto had just opened, Gracely saw something on Instagram about it and made the trek. HEARD COUNTY, Ga. - The owner of a dog rescue group in Heard County was arrested after authorities said they found the animals living in deplorable conditions.Investigators said more than 200 dogs were found on property belonging to Wendy Brewer and Dogs Rock Rescue. Brewer was booked into the Heard County jail on felony animal cruelty charges.Deputies raided the Dogs Rock Rescue after county animal control officers discovered what they said appeared to be deplorable conditions on the property including dead dogs, emaciated dogs, diseased dogs, and dehydrated and hungry dogs.

DREXEL HILL, Pa. - Authorities say a fight at a high school football game just outside of Philadelphia sparked false reports of a shooting and sent fans and players running for safety. The Upper Darby Police Department said in a tweet that a physical fight broke out at Saturday night's matchup between Upper Darby High School and Monsignor Bonner. Amid the commotion, some believed they heard shots being fired which caused players and fans to run for safety. A video tweeted by Philadelphia Sports Digest captured crowds of rushing across the field, towards the exit. Police said reports of a shooting at the game were false and that officers were in the process of clearing the area. No arrests were reported immediately following the incident and police did not say what sparked the initial fight.The game was canceled with Monsignor Bishop leading 6-0 in the third quarter.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is reforming its cold case investigation branch that was forced into dormancy as homicides surged across the city and stretched resources thin. "It was very unfortunate, but the cold cases ended up going by the wayside," Captain Jason Smith from the department's homicide unit told FOX 29's Kelly Rule. There are currently more than 4,000 unsolved murders in Philadelphia dating back to 1990, and just last year the city set a historically bloody benchmark of 562 killings. Smith said as homicides continued to pour in, he was forced to begin assigning investigators from the Cold Case Unit to probe active homicides. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES"We will continue to work those investigations, but in order to do that effectively I need a team of investigators dedicated to that purpose; to work on cold case investigations," Smith said. The department's revamped Cold Case Unit currently consists of two teams and four investigators, but Smith expects to double the unit's manpower by mid-September. Together, the team will work off tips and pull old case files to meticulously go through the details of the thousands of unsolved murders.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Officials with the Camden County Health Department have announced a probable case of monkeypox associated with a camp in Gloucester Township. This brings the county's total to 23 cases of monkeypox. According to health department officials, a lab test with a positive result was reported on Wednesday. After the positive result came back, the department launched an investigation per authorities. Officials did not say if the person who tested positive was a camper or staff. RELATED HEADLINESThe person is isolating and officials say individuals who were in close contact have been notified. The county has also scheduled a post-exposure prophylaxis vaccine clinic for those who were determined to have intermediate exposure. Officials are reminding people to be vigilant to help limit the spread of the virus. "Although this case is concerning, health officials on a county and statewide level have acted quickly to mitigate the further spread of this virus.
