A retired care home worker who beat breast cancer - and has battled skin cancer - has now recovered from coronavirus. Elsie McMahon was admitted to Wythenshawe Hospital in March after feeling unwell for a week.
The 70-year-old, from Timperley, tested positive for COVID-19 and chronic viral pneumonia. She was hooked up to an oxygen machine on a dedicated coronavirus ward.
Now, back home and on the road to recovery, Elsie wants to pay tribute to the staff who cared for her - and 'kept her going'.
Elsie, who has four daughters who all work as nurses in Greater Manchester, fell in the 'increased risk' category for COVID-19 due to her age and previous illnesses.
