The Department of Health has been notified of 8,058 new cases of Covid-19. The new figures consist of 4,158 PCR-confirmed cases and 3,900 positive antigen tests registered through the HSE portal.

As of 8am today, 593 Covid-19 patients are in hospital, down 15 from yesterday, of whom 54 are in ICU, that figure remains unchanged from yesterday.

Yesterday, the Government agreed to end almost all remaining health restrictions from next Monday. This means that mask wearing in schools, in retail settings and on public transport will be voluntary from 28 February, but they will still be required in health care.

The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) itself will be wound-up too, but the Office of the Chief Medical Officer will continue to monitor the "epidemiological profile of the disease".
