Arsenal players have rejected a 12.5 per cent pay cut over the next 12 months after a vote on Monday afternoon. The Gunners’ stars were offered incentives after reducing their wages for the next year.
Premier League players have come under pressure to cut their pay as coronavirus has caused havoc in the sporting calendar. Terms included deducted wages being added on top of a fresh salary as well as offering deducted money to players who left on a transfer.
But the north London stars unanimously rejected the terms due to doubts over the summer transfer window. With the Gunners paying a wage bill of £230m per year, a 12.5 per cent pay cut would have seen them save £25m.
