Norman Hunter was a Leeds United legend. Anyone with the nickname “Bites Yer Legs”, fondly awarded by fans who emblazoned the slogan on a banner, would have to be a hugely committed player – and Hunter had commitment and aggression in bundles.

The defender joined Leeds aged just 15 and went on to make 726 appearances in all competitions for the club, the fourth-highest individual total in the club’s history.

Hunter won two league titles during a 14-year spell at Elland Road. His tough tackles and fighting spirit also gave rise to plenty of great quotes – and here we take a look at some of the best moments and memories of his career, following the announcement today he died aged 76, after contracting coronavirus.
