A bloke was fined 1,000 Australian dollars (£488) after cops caught him eating a kebab during the coronavirus lockdown. The 21-year-old was cautioned twice by police patrolling in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, yesterday.
They later spotted him sitting on a bench eating the kebab, at which point he was given the hefty penalty. New South Wales Police have issued 13 Penalty Infringement Notices in the past 24 hours.
Another 51-year-old crashed his car and told cops he’d left his house to visit his drug dealer after they arrived at the scene.
The man was arrested and taken to hospital. New South Wales residents must stay in their homes unless they have a “reasonable excuse” for leaving.
