British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been moved to intensive care as he battles coronavirus, his office said in a statement Monday.
The announcement comes a day after Johnson was admitted to St. Thomas' Hospital in London with what his office called «persistent symptoms of coronavirus.»«Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the Prime Minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital,» the statement said.
Johnson has asked Foreign Secretary Domenic Raab, the first secretary of state, to stand in for him «when necessary.»Johnson is the first known world leader to test positive for the virus.
