In 2018, Jim Bowen's passing was confirmed by his wife to BBC Radio Lancashire. It is believed that Jim died naturally after being unwell for several weeks.
A close friend shared with Express, at the time: "Jim passed away this morning, he passed away very peacefully. Phyllis, who is his wife, was by his side.
We're going to release an official statement tomorrow." They added, "The cause of death was probably natural - he was 80 years old and suffered a few strokes over the last few years." The friend also mentioned, "He's had the first stroke in 2011 and he's had several minor strokes since.
He's been very poorly over the last few weeks." He leaves behind his wife Phyllis and their two children. Phyllis expressed her gratitude towards the staff at The Royal Lancaster Infirmary for their excellent care.
