Morgan/Getty Images)Australia’s Great Barrier Reef is critically deteriorating according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, or IUCN.
The reef is the world’s most extensive stretch of coral reef with over 1,500 species of fish and about 400 types of coral.RELATED: Climate change has killed half of the Great Barrier Reef's corals, study findsThis week, the union released a report saying climate change is now the biggest threat to World Heritage sites.
The report stated 63% of sites as either “good” or “good with some concerns”, while 30% are of “significant concern” and 7%.
