A 70-year-old man and a longtime Boris Johnson ally will be formally installed in the House of Lords today in a cut-down ceremony, despite the coronavirus crisis.
The Lords returns from its Easter break this afternoon - and will largely be operating ‘virtually’, with peers engaging in debates via video conferencing.
But it has been decided to go ahead with the ceremony to officially introduce new peers to the upper house despite the nation being in lockdown.
Baron Stephen Greenhalgh, a longtime ally of the Prime Minister who served as his deputy mayor for Policing, will take his seat today.
