Coronavirus has puzzled scientists with its wide range of symptoms. While many patients experience the well-known dry cough and a high fever, many other people reported completely different symptoms – or none whatsoever.
But there's one unpleasant symptom that affects up to half of all patients: bowel problems. A new study published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology analysed data from 204 patients with Covid-19 in China's Hubei province.
Researchers found nearly 50% of them experienced diarrhoea, vomiting or abdominal pain. Isla Haslam, a Balham, London resident who recently suffered coronavirus, experienced a dodgy stomach as the first indication she had the virus.
