NEW DELHI : After multiple denials that the novel coronavirus (covid-19) infection was spreading at the community level in India, the government on Monday accepted that there is “limited community transmission" of the pandemic in the country.
A disease is considered to have reached ‘community transmission’, or stage 3, when authorities are unable to find the source of the infection for a large number of cases, or many tests during a randomised surveillance yield positive results.
The admission came through a standard operating procedure (SOP) released Saturday for emergency medical relief, which is meant to be a guide and training manual for ambulance drivers and technicians in transporting patients.
