High street store John Lewis have confirmed they have made the "difficult decision" to close all 50 stores on Monday evening following the COVID-19 outbreak.

The company will temporarily close all 50 stores at the end of the working day due to virus continuing to sweep across the nation.

As COVID-19 closes many stores on the high street, this will be the first time the department store will not open its doors - with the exception of the blitz during World War II.

Despite the historic closure, JohnLewis.com, as well as Waitrose supermarkets and waitrose.com, will continue to operate as normal.
