Waitrose stores will set aside a proportion of hard-to-find and essential products for NHS workers to ensure they have access to basic items at all times of the day.
Health staff will also have priority access to queues - with a new dedicated till point for frontline workers being introduced in stores from Monday.
The grocer said that from Monday, a batch of all deliveries will be put on hold for those who are struggling to access everyday items.
It comes after bosses introduced a new shopping hour for the elderly and vulnerable, allowing them to pick up goods on a priority need basis.
