A mum says she is certain her 21-month-old son suffered from the mysterious coronavirus-related illness reported by doctors this week.

Melanie Cook, 38, believes toddler George showed signs of the ailment in mid-March - when little was being reported on the symptoms in children.

Doctors have described the condition as being similar to Kawasaki disease where symptoms include a high temperature with a rash, swollen glands in the neck, cracked lips, and red fingers, toes and eyes.

George was diagnosed with conjunctivitis, cellulitis and scarlet fever during his five-week illness, but having read about the new condition’s associated symptoms, Mrs Cook is convinced this is what her son had, reports Hull Live.
