Regulators have found Oxford and Pfizer vaccines against Covid-19 are safe despite investigating 143 deaths in people with underlying health conditions.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) collated reports to its “yellow card” scheme after seven million doses were delivered up to January 24.

The scheme invited patients to flag any adverse reactions and received 22,820 reports - three in every 1,000 doses administered.

The vast majority were mild and short-lived - mainly sore arm and fever, as well as chills, muscle aches and headaches. Out of seven million vaccinated patients there were 143 adverse reactions where they died in the days following vaccination.
