Colorado middle school principal asked parents to step in and guard the school after two administrators were shot by a student in the area.McAuliffe International School Principal Kurt Dennis sent a letter to parents in which he asked for volunteers to check student IDs and guard the doors at the Denver middle school."Our hope is that if enough adults sign up for a volunteer shift, we can address these areas for the duration of this school year," Dennis said in the letter, according to local 9News.Dennis' letter, which was sent to families Friday, laid out "near-term improvements" to shore up school safety in the wake of a student at nearby East High School who opened fire on two people who were searching him for weapons last month.Dennis told the outlet that his school has to pat down a student every day who was accused of attempted first-degree murder and illegal discharge of a firearm.The principal explained in his letter that the school is seeking adults who are willing to be posted at the school doors throughout the day to ensure they are locked, as well as someone who can stay at the front entrance and run student IDs through a security system to check if they are permitted in the building.Adults who take on the volunteer role will reportedly be decked out in bright yellow vests to indicate who they are.Dennis also wrote that hoodies will no longer be a part of the middle school uniform because of the ability of students to hide things in them."Students wearing hoodies are difficult to recognize, and the pockets in front are used to store items out of sight from our staff," Dennis said.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities in Philadelphia are investigating after a body was found in the back seat of a burning car early Tuesday morning. According to officials, police responded to a car fire in the area of Sylvester and Howell Streets in the Oxford Circle section of the city just before 1 a.m. Police say officers and medics arrived on scene to find a Honda CRV fully engulfed in flames. Once the fire department put out the flames, authorities say they realized there was a body in the back seat. The individual in the back seat was pronounced dead shortly after, according to Chief Inspector Scott Small, who says the body was burned beyond recognition. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAuthorities say the inside of the vehicle was also completely burned and there is damage to the vehicle's exterior. According to police, the car was parked there just before 1 a.m. and two people got out before the vehicle went up in flames. The person's cause of death remains under investigation, Small says. This is a developing story.

PHILADELPHIA - A local mother is speaking out against a Philadelphia daycare after she says her 6-year-old son was left alone on a school bus and had to find his way back into the building. Terralyn Jackson told FOX 29 that her son, Zaadyn, was picked up from school on Friday for an after school program at the Rock Foundation Early Learning Academy in West Oak Lane. Zaadyn ended up falling asleep on the bus during transit and when the bus arrived at the daycare, he was left behind for approximately 15-17 minutes, Jackson said. Zaadyn said he was awoken by the unseasonably warm temperatures that climbed into the mid-80s on Friday, and he found his way off the bus and through the daycare's front gate. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES"If he did not know how to get through the gate, which the lock is very high, he would’ve been on Ogontz Avenue just randomly there," Jackson said.Jackson said a parent let Zaadyn in through the main entrance of the daycare. SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. - A 14-year-old boy was found behind the wheel of a pickup truck that police say caused five cars to crash, sending six people to the hospital over the weekend.Several cars were stopped at Coastal Highway and Slaughter Beach Road for flashing red lights when the truck crashed into the last car in the line.The collision caused a chain reaction, propelling each car forward, until all five were crashed on the highway.Police say a 14-year-old boy was driving the truck, and that alcohol was detected on his breath. PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating the death of a man who was shot in East Germantown on Friday evening. According to authorities, officers from the 19th District responded to the 6100 block of Ardleigh Street for a report of a shooting shortly before 9 p.m. Officials say 24-year-old Donte Moore, of East Germantown, was found suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and lower back. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESFire department medics pronounced Moore dead on scene at 9:05 p.m., according to authorities. Police say 23-year-old Zaire Ayers of West Philadelphia was arrested in connection with the shooting. Ayers has been charged with murder and related charges, officials say.

Kathy Griffin is candidly speaking out about her mental health condition.  The 62-year-old comedian posted a video on TikTok this week to share with her fans that she was diagnosed with "complex PTSD" or post-traumatic stress disorder.
