The Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival on Monday became the latest major film gathering to see the light of day as a virtual event amid the coronavirus pandemic.

North America's largest documentary festival and Canada's CBC network will join forces to stream select world premieres that lost in-person cinema play due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 crisis.

After Hot Docs finally unveils its film lineup on April 14, CBC and its CBC Gem service will screen festival premieres from April 16 to May 28 as part of a virtual theater multi-platform offering.
