F1 chiefs admit season may start behind closed doors as four teams ‘fight for survival’

Ross Brawn has suggested Formula One could close its doors to fans in order to save the 2020 season. The coronavirus crisis has had a huge impact on the sport with the Canadian Grand Prix, scheduled for June 14, having become the ninth race to be called off.

As things stand, the French Grand Prix is currently set to take place on June 28, but F1’s managing director now expects the season to be pushed back into July.

A shorter season is inevitable as they bid to squeeze 19 races into the calendar.
