Dept of Health reports 12,208 cases of Covid over weekend

The Department of Health has reported 12,208 cases of Covid-19 since Friday. The HSE no longer issues Covid figures over the weekend.

Instead, they are issued on a Monday for the previous days. The Health Protection Surveillance Centre was notified today of 1,715 PCR-confirmed cases of Covid-19.

In addition, yesterday 2,049 people registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal. Yesterday, the HPSC was notified of 1,442 PCR-confirmed cases.

1,725 people registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal the previous day. On Saturday, the HPSC was notified of 2,756 PCR-confirmed cases.

NOAA's law enforcement office said a necropsy on the dolphin revealed it was impaled in the head by a spear-like object while still alive. The dolphin was a lactating female, and it appeared to have died from trauma, which happened at or around its time of death, according to NOAA.READ: Dolphin dies after reportedly being harassed by Texas beachgoersLaw enforcement officials said they suspect the dolphin was impaled while in a "begging position." Credit: Provided / Cadbury World BIRMINGHAM, England - Two talented chocolatiers at Cadbury World spent three days crafting a massive Easter egg, which stands 3 feet tall and weighs over 88 pounds. Dawn Jenks and Donna Oluban took three days to make the giant chocolate treat at Cadbury World, an attraction located outside of Birmingham, England, that shares all about the history and making of British confectioner Cadbury chocolate. The egg is made of solid milk chocolate and features a detailed Easter scene, complete with an intricate array of flowers, grass and cherry blooms trees.

Ontario is “well into” the sixth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the province’s Science Advisory Table says.The science table released new projections on Thursday, saying the sixth wave is being driven by the “new, more transmissible BA.2 variant, waning immunity, and lifting of public health measures.”The table said there is “significant uncertainty around the impact of case growth on our health system and deaths,” but added that wastewater surveillance suggests that community transmission of the virus “may have peaked.”The advisory table said the province’s wastewater signal has “increased substantially” but that growth has slowed down, adding that it “may have crested.”“It is uncertain yet, whether the current plateau will remain or be followed by an increase after the holidays, or a decrease,” the document reads.

New COVID-19 hospitalizations rise, 5 deaths reported in Manitoba
COVID-19 have died and 177 new patients were admitted to hospital last week.The latest COVID-19 data comes in the weekly epidemiology update covering April 3 to 9. Booster shots now available for all Manitobans aged 12-17 The hospitalizations include 19 new admissions to ICU.This marks the third week in a row the province has reported an increase in new hospitalizations.There were 141 new COVID-19 patients admitted to hospital March 27 to April 2 and 111 new patients reported the week before that.The province’s weekly updates don’t the total number of people currently in hospital and ICU as as result of of COVID-19, instead reporting only how many new admissions occurred during the previous week.While the province reported five deaths linked to COVID-19 in Thursday’s update, Manitoba’s total COVID-19 death toll rose to 1,759, eight more deaths than last week.
