Driver abandons car after ploughing into garden wall - just yards from crash involving four vehicles

A driver abandoned their car after ploughing into a front garden wall in Whalley Range. The silver Vauxhall Astra appeared to have struck a road sign before it smashed through the wall on Wilbraham Road.

It then hit the back of a Mercedes minibus parked on the driveway. Emergency services were called to the scene just before 10.50pm on Wednesday, April 6.

The driver of the vehicle was not there when they arrived. There was no damage to the house, but a section of the wall could be seen completely flattened.

Images taken from the scene show the car a mangled wreck. The road was sealed off by police while the mess was cleared up. Fire crews were called to the scene as there were reports the vehicle was smoking, but it was not when they
