EastEnders will go off air next month before filming starts again. The BBC soap slashed its episodes to just two per week after the coronavirus pandemic shut production down.

It has now been revealed the soap will run out of pre-filmed episodes next month before the producers will be able to begin filming again.

A source said: "There will be a break for the soap next month. The insider continued telling The Sun: "Everyone wants to get back to work of course but the health and safety of cast and crew is the most important thing.

It will only happen when it can be done safely." BBC boss Charlotte Moore revealed plans to restart production again in June earlier this week.
