Recycling centres across South Lanarkshire reopened this week for the first time in months.Tips were closed at the start of the lockdown after travelling to a dump was not classed as an essential journey.However councils across the region were granted permission to re-open on Monday with a raft of restrictions put in place.South Lanarkshire Council warned residents to only visit the recycling centres if really necessary as lengthy queues were to be expected.Early morning queues were seen at East Kilbride’s recycling centre in the town’s Peel Park Place, but appeared to disperse as the day went on.One resident said: “Cars had been queuing up early before opening this morning but the authority seem to have it well managed and under control.
