It was the news redecorators and recyclers long awaited as dumps officially reopened last Monday.Despite predictions of long queues —and up to two hour waits in other parts of the country — South Ayrshire appeared to take heed to the council’s advice of only visiting if “absolutely essential”.There were no long queues at Ayr’s Heathfield Recycling Centre on Monday, June 1 on day one of reopening.Dump depots at Girvan, Maybole and Troon also appeared in working order as the public ventured out to part with their overdue waste.Two pop-up sites in Ayr’s Citadel carpark and Girvan for general/black bag waste have also been set up and were being put to good use.No trailers, vans or horse boxes were seen on sites- which are not permitted until.
