The European Commission will tomorrow launch new rules monitoring exports of Covid-19 vaccines outside the EU, as the controversy over the AstraZeneca vaccine shortfall continues.
Officials have said the new rules could, in certain cases, amount to a ban on the export of vaccines to third countries. However, they said the objective is to ensure that member states know what vaccines were going where and to ensure that those exports did not scupper delivery targets the European Commission had signed with pharmaceutical companies through advanced purchase agreements.
