Spice, a former legal high, has proved to be a scourge on Manchester. Long after it was criminalised in 2016, the 'Zombie' drug, a mixture of toxic cannabinoids, has wreaked havoc on our city.
It forces its users into catatonic, zombie-like states, creating damaging addictions among the city's homeless population, as well as causing associated anti-social behaviour and drug influenced crime.
Some addicts have travelled from outside the city on the 'Spice trail' to get their drugs here. The problem has also reached our prisons.
New problems have grabbed the headlines in the past few years, but Manchester's Spice crisis remains. A court case only this week confirmed this, as a 25-year-old man was locked up for more than three years after
