Maharashtra on Sunday registered 550 fresh Covid-19 cases, 21 more than the previous day, which raised the overall caseload to 78,85,944, while one death took the toll to 1,47,859, the state health department said.  On Saturday, the state had recorded 529 cases, but no virus-related death.  As many as 324 Covid-19 patients were discharged today, which pushed the recovery count to 77,35,088.  The state currently has 2,997 active coronavirus cases. Maharashtra's recovery rate is 98.09 per cent, while the fatality rate is 1.87 per cent.  With 375 new cases, Mumbai's infection count grew to 10,64,056.

LOGAN - Philadelphia police are investigating a triple shooting in Logan that injured two teens and a 63-year-old man.Police responded to the 4900 block of North 16th Street early Sunday, around 2:30 a.m., on the report of gunshots.According to officials, a 16 and 17-year-old were sitting on a stoop when a red SUV drove by, shooting a handgun out of an open window.The two teens were each struck by gunfire and a 63-year-old man inside of a home was shot in the hand.Authorities say 17 shots were fired.

(Photo by Ricky Carioti/The Washington Post via Getty Images) PHILADELPHIA - Federal officials have announced that two owners of Tony Luke’s, a famous Philadelphia cheesesteak restaurant, have pleaded guilty in a tax fraud scheme. Tony Lucidonio Sr., or Tony Luke Sr., and Nicholas Lucidonio entered their guilty pleas on Monday, admitting to participating in a plot to evade payroll taxes between 2006 and 2016, according to officials. Authorities say evidence summarized in a Monday hearing showed that the duo paid a significant number of their employees partially ‘off-the-books.’"To avoid withholding and paying over to the IRS employment taxes of the ‘off-the-books’ amount, defendants gave their employees paychecks that reflected a portion of the employees’ hourly wages with the required taxes withheld," read a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

OCEAN CITY, N.J. - Mother Nature isn't in the mood this Mother's Day weekend. Forecasters are calling for nearly two days of continuous rain across the Delaware Valley, with bouts of heavy downpours and temperatures in the 40s.
