The first meeting of the EU-UK Joint Committee, set up to implement the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement, including the protocol on Northern Ireland, will take place this afternoon by video conference.
The UK will be represented by Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove, while the EU will be represented by the European Commission Vice-President Maros Sefcovic.
This will be a getting-to-know you encounter, although whether or not that can be achieved through a video link is questionable.
In reality the Brexit process, in terms of negotiating the future relationship, has been parked due to the coronavirus pandemic.
